Who may apply for the 10X Prize Clean Cooling Student Competition?

Teams of 3-5 currently enrolled full-time college or university students for the academic year 2023-24. Students must have a faculty lead who is currently employed by the university for the academic year 2023-24. Colleges and universities, as well as community partners, must be located within states in the Interstate 10 region (California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida).

What is a clean cooling solution?

Visit the Clean Cooling Collaborative to learn more about clean cooling solutions. Additionally, numerous resources are available on the resources tab. 

Do I need to be enrolled at a 4-year university?

No, participants may also be enrolled full-time at a community or technical college. 

What is a community partner?

Community Partners include nonprofits, municipalities, or community foundations with which the team plans to implement their clean cooling solution.

How do I bring together my team to submit our project together?

To submit your project collaboratively, each team member will need to create a login on the home page. Then designate one team member to invite you to a be a collaborator on the project.

What is needed for the University Letter of Intent?

The University Letter of Intent is an official acknowledgment by your institution that in the event of your team winning they would be capable of accepting and distributing prize money to the team for the implementation of the project. There is a template for the University Letter of Intent available in the Project Plan and Budget. Requirements differ between institutions, some schools may require a signature from a Dean or Provost, and others may have a Research Administration Office. Please reach out to your administration as soon as possible so that you can submit this by noon AZ time on January 31, 2024.

Can a Researcher and/or Lecturer employed full-time by our institution act as a team lead?

Yes. A faculty, researcher, and/or lecturer employed full-time by the academic institution may lead the student team. This does not need to be a Faculty position. Please have your administration acknowledge support for this role in the University Letter of Intent.
